Mid-Morning Update

I am turning the blog over to the great American weather legend, J.B. Elliott, for the rest of the morning as I am about to hit the road to Maplesville (you can ride along with me by watching the StormChaser live stream)…

Some quick notes…

*The largest snow total I have seen so far is 4 inches at Mentone, atop Lookout Mountain in DeKalb County.
*We have received many reports of 2 to 3 inches of snow on the ridges of Blount and Etowah County, including Straight Mountain and Lookout Mountain
*About 1/4 inch of snow on the ground at my place in North Shelby County, where it has been snowing since 6:00 a.m.
*Snow will continue through the morning, tapering off by midday, with flurries into the afternoon.
*Most roads are wet, although we have heard of a few issues across high terrain of East Alabama.

J.B. will have more shortly, and keep those pictures coming… the address is pictures@abc3340.com! Scroll down to see pictures in the post below this one…
