Rain is increasing across Central Alabama this afternoon.

Showers were growing over much of western Jefferson County as well as over the western counties of Pickens, Lamar, Fayette and Marion.

To the south, a band of heavier rain was moving northward through South Central Alabama.

It extends from Sumter, Marengo, Perry and Dallas Counties eastward through the Montgomery area and into East Alabama.

Alston Keith reports an inch of rain at Industry, AL, which is near Georgiana with rain still coming down.

This back will continue northward through the afternoon.

The surface low is south of the Louisiana coast at this hour. Heavy rain covers much of the state of Louisiana, over into Mississippi. This rain will move across Alabama tonight as the low heads northeast.

Temperatures now are in the 50s across Central Alabama, ranging from 50F at Anniston to 58F at Tuscaloosa.
