An all new edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme video is available in the player below. You can subscribe to the Weather Xtreme video on iTunes by clicking here.

RIGHT NOW: A cold front is passing through Alabama; most of the light rain is now east of I-65, and it looks like it will be out of the state easily by mid-morning. Rainfall amounts, as expected, were very light. The total in downtown Tuscaloosa was only 0.01″; many spots did not get enough rain to measure, and barely enough to wet the pavement.

The big change today is colder temperatures. The GFS is now printing a high of only 54 degrees… the high will be determined if the sun can break out later. If that happens, we will see upper 50s, but if the clouds hang tough, we might have a hard time getting out of the low to mid 50s. One way or another it will be much cooler today.

TOMORROW AND THURSDAY: Looks like I will need to revise the numbers down a bit on these days, but the weather will be dry. Guidance is now suggesting highs only in the 50s tomorrow, with low to mid 60s on Thursday.

FRIDAY AND THE WEEKEND: Confidence remains rather low in the specific forecast for the beginning of the weekend. A low pressure center will form in the western Gulf Friday, and will have the potential to bring rain to Alabama, but the northern extent of that rain remains in question. Watch the Weather Xtreme video and you will see the 06Z GFS keeps the rain over the far southern part of the state and the waters of the Gulf of Mexico, leaving us dry. But, I don’t think you can jump on that just yet, and we will maintain a chance of rain in our forecast late Friday night into Saturday morning. No doubt the heaviest rain will be over the southern quarter of Alabama. We will fine tune the forecast as we go along this week.

Sunday looks cool and dry with a high in the low 60s.

THANKS GIVING WEEK: I have a day by day breakdown on this big week on the Weather Xtreme video… but it looks like we will have a round of showers and possibly a thunderstorm on Tuesday, followed by sharply colder weather by Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 30 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes.
