Greetings from The Weather Company’s Western Bureau tonight, in Sacramento, California.

I have the privilege of giving the Great American Weather Legend, J.B. Elliott, a little break tonight. The man is a weather machine, running on only coffee, feeding on the collective energy of the atmosphere.

Rain is intensifying from Winston through NW Walker, Fayette and into northern Pickens Counties at this time.

Looking at the wires this hour…

BIRMINGHAM
…NEW flash flood warning for Lamar County until 1 a.m….more heavy rain seems to be forming near Columbus MS and will move across the County…much of Lamar County has already received 1.5 inches of rain today…
…Flood advisory for Pickens County til 1245…heavy rain from Millport and Kennedy in Lamar County down through Ethelsville and Macedonia. Expect one hour rainfall rates of 3/4 to 1 inch per our with this activity as it moves eastward at 25 mph.
…Heavy rain extends up through Fayette and into southeastern Marion and Winston Counties. This activity will reach the Birmingham Metro around midnight. Fortunately it does not look like it will stay over te area too long.
…Flood warning for Sumter County until tomorrow morning…Sumter over into Greene, hale, Perry and Bibb Counties could see several hours of moderate to heavy rain.
…Numerous river flood warnings, including the Tombigbee, Black Warrior and Locust Fork.

SKYWATCHERS
…0.66 in Fayette so far, raining at rate of 1.39 inches per hour though…

HUNTSVILLE
…Extending flash flood watch for all of te Tennessee valley until tomorrow afternoon.
…Flash flood warning continues for Cullman County…heavy rain will be spreading across the County for the next hour.
…John Talbot is monitoring Cullman Sheriff…says no reports of problems so far…

JACKSON
…flooding reported earlier around Grenada…
…numerous flash flood warnings across the state…
…a large area of heavy rain east of Jackson, will move east northeast and affect Central Alabama later.

MEMPHIS
…Has responsibility for northern Mississippi…
…flooding reported in the city of Pontotoc in North Mississippi…roadways across the county are flooded.
…trees were reported down in Tupelo because of saturated ground conditions and a 20 mph wind.

FLASH FLOOD WATCH OVERNIGHT
…Please stay alert to worsening flood conditions overnight if you live in a flood prone area. Do not drive or walk into floodwaters…please Turn Around…Don’t Drown!
