A 60-75 mile stripe across Mississippi from Tupelo to Jackson and on southwest is under flash flood warnings at this hour. The NWS in Memphis reports flooding in Tupelo…three feet deep in some streets with submerged cars reported.
The rain extends all the way back into Central Louisiana. I estimate that it could rain 5-7 hours overnight across Central Alabama, including the Tuscaloosa, Birmingham and Anniston areas. Expect an additional 3 inches of rain in some locations. This will cause flooding.
Expect many more flash flood warnings overnight as the rain area moves east.
