Lunchtime Look at Alabama’s Weather
It’s been the Tennessee Valley and North Central Alabama’s turn for wet weather on this Sunday before Labor Day. Some morning rains fell over Northeast and East Alabama as well, but they were generally very light.
A weakening, but large area of rain covers a wide area generally bordered by Northwest Walker up to Lawrence into the Huntsville area, then down to northern Blount County, through much of Cullman County and back to Walker County.
Rain is pretty solid within that boundary, with rain falling in places like Saragossa, Double Springs, Moulton, Decatur, Huntsville, Eva and Cullman. Couldn’t find much lightning with this rainfall.
The activity was moving north northeast.
Further south, the sun was out. This means more storms will develop as the afternoon wears on. A new cell has developed rapidly near Aliceville in southern Pickens County. That’s a newly developed cell near Fayette.
Some activity showing up in Bibb county will move toward Shelby County.
So, look for fairly good chances of a shower or storm in your neighborhood through the afternoon hours, especially in areas where the sun comes out and we get decent heating.
Be alert for heavy rain and lightning from the thunderstorms.
Labor Day looks to look a lot like today, with a fairly good chance (around 40%) of showers and storms raining on your holiday activity.
Hope you stay dry and have a fun holiday Sunday and Monday!
