Big strong thunderstorms were going downhill late this afternoon, especially as far as the number of them is concerned. However, storms were still dumping very heavy rain across West/Central and Central Alabama, especially from Sumter and Greene Counties eastward across Hale, Perry and Chilton Counties.

Not only very heavy rain, but bunches of lightning strokes. Some of the heaviest rain was over Hale County in places like Moundville, Greensboro and Havana Junction (cheers!). It was also raining rather heavily along I-65 in Chilton County in the very center of Alabama.

Up north, some strong storms still moving east across the Tennessee Valley with the heaviest rain over Limestone County.
