New Position Report on Line of Storms-3:20 am

| July 31, 2009 @ 3:22 am | Reply

At 3:20 am, that line of strong thunderstorms extended all the way from Central Mississippi, east of Jackson and NE into Alabama through parts of Pickens, Tuscaloosa, Jefferson, St. Clair and eastward into Calhoun County.

Some separate storms Shelby County.

These storms are making lots of noise and dumping locally heavy rain. They do not appear strong enough to trigger a formal Severe Thunderstorm Warning.

They will cross the rest of the BHM Metro area between now and 4 am. Rain may be heavy enough to cause some temporary street flooding.

NWS/Storm Prediction Center does not have Alabama included in a risk area for today. That does not rule out a few warnings.
