New Line of Storms
Up very early on this Friday morning watching still another line of thunderstorms in Alabama.
These storms formed in East Texas late yesterday and last evening.
At 2:35 am, the line of storms with considerable lightning and heavy rain extended from Cullman County southwestward near the Walker-Jefferson County line into North Tuscaloosa County. We have a report thunder heard in Northport. There was also some individual storms out ahead of the main line over Central Shelby County.
This line of storms was producing lots of lightning and heavy rain also. Every thing moving eastward.
The only formal warning so far was a Flash Flood Warning in Mississippi issued earlier from NWS/Jackson.
This line of thunderstorms will be moving across the Tuscaloosa-Birmingham area between 3 and 4 am and will awaken a lot of folks. At this point, the storms do not appear strong enough to trigger a Severe Thunderstorm Warning unless they grow stronger.
The NWS/Storm Prediction Center, in their latest discussion, does not have a risk area for any part of Alabama today (Friday)
