Ring Around The Sun

Thanks to Cathy Young of Pensacola for this image… she writes:

“These sun photos taken about noon today at Johnson Beach, Perdido Key, Florida (just east of Orange Beach). Taken by Cathy Young of Pensacola, Florida enjoying a beach day (even though overcast) with her husband Roger, 2 sons, daughter-in-law, and 2 beautifull grandsons.”

The ring, of course, is caused by a layer of high cirrus clouds, above 20,000 feet, which are ice crystals…
