Focus to the North

We are watching some strong thunderstorms over West Tennessee that are moving toward the SE generally toward the Alabama border. Earlier this afternoon, they turned slightly more toward the SE.

The Tornado Watch for NE Arkansas, SE Missouri, West and Middle Tennessee expires at 6 pm. No current indication if SPC will extend it southward.

We are weary of big, bad, mean, severe thunderstorms that are overloaded with lightning and high winds so we will watch them ultra closely.

Meanwhile, Alabama has been as quite as a cat trying to catch a mouse as far as thunderstorms go today.

Late this afternoon a small one developed in NW Alabama and moved SE but soon weakened.

The Storm Prediction Center still has Extreme North Alabama roughly as far south as Cullman under a slight risk.

A Tornado Warning was posted at 5 pm for two Tennessee counties adjacent to the NW Alabama border. Earlier, hail one inch in diameter was observed at Jackson, in West Tennessee aling with a funnel cloud.
