June 6–Three Important Events

| June 6, 2009 @ 12:44 pm | 1 Reply

For sure, June 6 is a landmark day in the history of the good ole USA. It is the 65th anniversary of D-Day when thousands of U.S. Troops died on the beaches of Normandy. We can’t ever, EVER, forget that and we should all eternally thankful.

Two other events happened on June 6.

1. A long, long time ago, a little baby was brought into this world, mumbling something about a thunderstorm. . His name was James Spann. I think he was already interested in weather several weeks before he was born. The rest is history. He has been the Chief Meteorologist at ABC 33/40 since October, 1996. We sometimes call it Channel 73 just for fun.

2. Today (June 6) is also the wedding anniversary of Karen and James. Which raises some questions:

* Was it arranged that way to cut down on the number of gifts?

* Or to avoid possibly forgetting the anniversary?

In any event, let us all wish James and Karen a double dose of best wishes!

* Sorry, but I don’t know how old James is. All I can tell you is that it is somewhere between 30 and 70.

* Our forecast is that he will lose all of his hair by October 15, 2032, and by that time will be wearing a hair piece and will highly resemble Donald Trump or Dave Baird! (or possibly even Paul Finebaum!)

* But he will still be sucking down BBQ like a human vacuum cleaner, using a walking stick and still forecasting weather, warning of tornadoes hurricanes and still making daily speeches in schools (although from an easy chair)

* I have known him for 35+ years and he is a great friend to us all.

Happy birthday AND anniversary!
