Human’s Greatest Friends in Need
NOTE: This special post is not weather related and that is why I am posting it in the Miss Molly category. I sure hope you will give this full attention. The post below is word-for-word from Emily Amberson with the Animal Shelter, Calhoun County Humane Society. You have probably seen recent stories on ABC 33/40 about this. I certainly am going to make a contribution. I will ask Emily to send us an update late in the weekend and I will post a followup story on this Monday Morning.

Dear Mr. Elliott;
I am a huge fan of the work you guys do everyday to keep the citizens of Alabama informed about the goings-on in the weather world. As a follower of the blog, I know that a lot of people on the blog (yourself included) are animal owners and lovers. It is with that is mind that I write you today about the terrible situation at the Animal Shelter (Calhoun County Humane Society) in Anniston.
The Animal Shelter currently houses over 300 dogs and cats and they are looking at the possibility of closure, which would mean almost all of the animals would be put to sleep. This shelter believes that if an animal is adoptable, it should be given every chance possible to find a good home. The dog we are looking to adopt, Thurman, has been with the shelter for over a year. That is amazing to me, that this place would give this little guy a chance while so many others would have given up. If at all possible, could you please post something on the blog about this? I’m including links below along with information about the Save Opal’s Shelter donation drive.
Through the end of June, a very generous donor has pledged to match 100% of all donations made to the shelter, up to $5,000!! That’s a chance for this wonderful place to get up to $10,000! I know that the economy is rough on everyone right now, but if you are able to spare even $10, that would mean $20 for the shelter. The link below is to the website that talks about the donation match.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and for the incredible work you guys and gals do every day.
