Early Afternoon in Alabama–1:20 Report

Isolated showers were developing over NE Alabama early this afternoon. Most were light to moderate.

However a heavy shower was in progress over NW Etowah County NW of Gadsden and Attalla. This one may grow into a thunderstorm shortly.

Development will be quick this afternoon as soon as showers start forming. A few stoirms could become severe this afternoon and this evening.

A cool front was moving east across Central Mississippi this afternoon. This front will enhance shower formation as it pushes into the deep warm and very humid air over Alabama.

A CONTRAST
At noon it was 80 at Birmingham Airport with the dew point a very high70. At the same hour, the temperature in Fayetteville, Ark., was a cool 61 with a dew point of 55 (much drier air)
