Alabama at Mid-Afternoon–2:55 Report
A very long row of showers and some thunderstorms was from south to north right through the heart of Alabama this afternoon. It is the longest train of showers we have seen all day.
Specifically, at 2:50 p.m., the line of storms extended all the way from Elba and Andalusia in the extreme south northward to Luverne, to west of Montgomery to along the Chilton/Coosa County line through East and North Shelby County across NE Jefferson County to Lawrence County in far NW Alabama.
Interestingly, that line of showers and some storms is about 250 miles long. You don’t see that too often when the showers are moving more like a train. The ones this afternoon are moving generally northward, but the line is shifting gradually eastward.
The other main showers were over SW Alabama.
