Flash Flood Watch Issued for Central Alabama
Counties included are: Bibb, Blount, Calhoun, Chambers, Cherokee, Chilton, Clay, Cleburne, Coosa, Etowah, Fayette, Jefferson, Lamar, Lee, Marion, Pickens, Randolph, Shelby, St. Clair, Talladega, Tallapoosa, Tuscaloosa, Walker and Winston.
The watch goes until 7 a.m. tomorrow morning.
Rainfall amounts from persistent storms today and tonight will average around one inch, with some spots getting two inches and a few locations picking up three or more inches. With the recent wet conditions, this could lead to flooding.
Storms are lined up generally along I-59 from Bessemer to downtown Birmingham. These storms were bubbling northeastward. They will produce lightning and brief heavy rain. In fact, an areal flood advisory has been issued for Jefferson and Shelby Counties.
Big storms and heavy rain continues over Randolph County in East Alabama over into the Carrrollton area of western Georgia.
