James’ discussion will be very interesting this morning.

First up…a powerful line of thunderstorms is knocking on the door of Northwest Alabama this morning…numerous reprots of wind damage in Northern Mississippi.

Severe thunderstorm warnings have been issued for Northwest Alabama’s Lauderdale, Colbert and Franklin Counties.

Just had a report of a mobile home severely damaged with two persons trapped 1 mile west of Theo in Alcorn County. This is the same county where Corinth is located.

Severe thunderstorm warnings extend all along this line from Savannah, TN to Booneville, MS to just west of Tupelo to just east of Grenada to north of Greenwood. There is a tiny break t here, but then it continues back into the Delta.

Severe thunderstorm watches continue from Northwest Georgia all the way back to the Red River region of Texas and Oklahoma.

Thunderstorms over Northwest Alabama are retreating northward along a warm front. They extend from Morgan and Madison Counties over to northern Etowah and southern DeKalb Counties into Cherokee County. They are not quite as strong as before, but producing very heavy rains.

Flash flood warnings are in effect for Cullman County in North Alabama, as well as for Lawrence, Limestone, Morgan, Marshall and southern DeKalb Counties.

The NWS Birmingham maintains a Flash Flood Watch for Blount, Cherokee, Etowah, Fayette, Lamar, Marion, Walker, Winston [AL] till 12:00 PM CDT

Flooding will be a concern:

First, we will deal with damaging winds from the thunderstorm complex over Northeast Mississippi. It could actually intensify as it moves across the Tennessee Valley during the day.

But then there will be another complex later in the day, and it will be formidable also, with high winds, possibly tornadoes, hail and more flooding rains.

Today makes 6 straight days of severe weather warnings in Alabama. Tomorrow will make 7.
