An all new edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme video is available in the player below. You can subscribe to the Weather Xtreme video on iTunes by clicking here.

RIDGE THE STORY: The persistent upper ridge over the eastern U.S. will be slow in breaking down, and accordingly our weather will remain warm, and generally dry, through Friday. We will mention some risk of isolated afternoon showers Wednesday through Friday, but the chance of any one place getting wet is small. Afternoon highs will remain mostly in the 81 to 85 degree range with a good supply of sunshine each day. The organized rain and storms will remain west and north of our state.

THE WEEKEND: The ridge begins to break down, but it will be a slow process. There could be an increase in the number of scattered afternoon showers Saturday and Sunday, but I am not convinced it will rain that much over the weekend. Temperatures will back down a bit with afternoon highs in the 78 to 82 degree range. There should be some decent intervals of sunshine, mixed with clouds.

NEXT WEEK: The global models are showing a long wave upper trough over the central part of the nation next week, which should mean wetter and unsettled conditions for Alabama and the Deep South. This puts us in a southwest flow aloft, and could mean several days with numerous showers and storms. Temperatures will also trend downward due to the clouds and showers. We could use a few good rain events before we get to June, you know.

TWITTER: Don’t forget, you can follow our news and weather updates from ABC 33/40 on Twitter here. And, my personal Twitter feed is here if you want to keep up with my adventures in life. Twitter is a short messaging service you can receive via the web, cell phone, or IM.

I had a great time today visiting with the volunteers at Jesus’ Pantry at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Hueytown this morning, and also with a group of students at University Place Elementary School in Tuscaloosa. Be looking for the kids on the Pepsi KIDCAM today at 5:00 on ABC 33/40 News. I will have the next Weather Xtreme video here by 7:00 a.m. tomorrow!
