A Little Cooler Tomorrow

An all new edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme video is available in the player below. You can subscribe to the Weather Xtreme video on iTunes by clicking here.

HARDLY ANY RAIN: You might see a few showers on radar this afternoon north of Birmingham, but this cold front won’t produce much rain across Alabama due to the lack of moisture. The chance of any one spot around here getting wet later today is only about one in ten, barely worth the mention in the forecast. Cooler air will follow the front late tonight, and by daybreak tomorrow we should be in the low 40s.

TOMORROW AND THE WEEKEND: Sunny pleasant days and clear cool nights… highs back in the mid to upper 60s tomorrow and Saturday, then close to 70 Sunday. The coldest morning will come early Saturday with an average low near 40, but the colder valleys will drop into the 30s with some risk of scattered light frost.

NEXT WEEK: Our next significant rain event will come Wednesday and Thursday as a cold front drifts down in here and stalls. At this point the chance of severe weather looks small, although a few strong storms could be involved.

Beyond Thursday, we are confident in a significant late season cold snap with the threat of a freeze late this month, but details are a bit muddy due to model madness. Watch the Weather Xtreme video and you will see the 00Z GFS now keeps us in moist, unstable air through that following weekend, and doesn’t bring the cold air down in here until March 30-31.

TWITTER: Don’t forget, you can follow our news and weather updates from ABC 33/40 on Twitter here. And, my personal Twitter feed is here if you want to keep up with my adventures in life. Twitter is a short messaging service you can receive via the web, cell phone, or IM.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 30 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40. You can even listen here on the blog; look for the player on the top left.

I will be speaking today and tomorrow at the lunch hour at the Church of the Advent in downtown Birmingham… I am looking forward to that. The next Weather Xtreme video will be posted by 3:30 this afternoon; enjoy the day!
