Alabama’s Pesky Fog

| December 18, 2008 @ 7:33 pm | 2 Replies

It has been a pest for several nights in a row.

Again this evening, visibility was dropping over a large part of North and Central Alabama. NWS/Birmingham posted a Dense Fog Advisory until 8 o’clock Friday morning. They advise that the worst fog may be along and north of about the Carrollton-Tuscaloosa-Alabaster-Talladega-Anniston-Centre line. Visibility may drop to less than 1/4 mile as the fog becomes more widespread.

Visibility was already 1/4 to 1/2 mile at a number of locations.

Important to watch closely as you drive from an area not already having dense fog into a sudden bank of fog.

A motorist in the vicinity of the junction of I-65 and I-59 in downtown Birmingham reported visibility only about 1/4 mile already.

ANOTHER WARM DAY
For several days in a row, North Alabama has been cooler with highs today a little warmer–in the 50s. Warm elsewhere. These highs today:
61 Anniston
66 Birmingham
67 Anniston and Shelby County Airport
68 Tuscaloosa and Troy
72 Auburn and Montgomery
74 Dothan
78 Evergreen
