And it can all still be blamed on Gustav even though he is now centered further over into West Louisiana. These important items:

* Tornado Watch until 4 pm today for a large part of Central and South Mississippi and all of SE Louisiana. Includes such cities as Jackson and New Orleans and a lot more. In Mississippi, only the north 1/3 and a narrow strip adjacent to the Alabama border not included in the Tornado Watch.

* Besides today, the Storm Prediction Center also has a slight risk for tomorrow for all of Arkansas, the North half of Louisiana and the west edge of Mississippi.

* Radar at 9:20 this morning shows the strongest spiral band was from Central Mississippi southeastward to the Mississippi Coast. Tornado Warnings now in effect for several counties in Central and South Mississippi.

* There was a second, shorter spiral band from the North Gulf northward to near Pensacola and Alabama’s coastal Baldwin County. They have been pounded the last two days. I feel sure the NWS in Mobile issued over 50 Tornado Warnings since yesterday–a great on-the-ball job.

* Louisiana Governor Jindal reports, in a press conference just ended, these additional facts and numbers:

* Biggest medical evacuation in Louisiana history.

* Over 1,000 patients already evacuated

* May need to evacuate 800 more patients

* Some hospitals will be able to run only 3 or 4 additional days on their emergency generators.
