* 7:15 this evening, Adams County EMA reported widespread uprooted trees around Natchez, Mississippi. Several highways and county roads have trees across them.Downed power lines as well.

* A levee was over topped this afternoon in Plaquemine Parrish in Louisiana. However, officials were able to open some gates and lessen the pressure so there was no failure.

* Rain reports from all the regular reporting stations in the immediate vicinity of New Orleans were missing this evening. Understandable but we don’t have a comprehensive list. These three reports from Louisiana ending at 7 pm this evening:

3.74 Lafayette
1.76 Alexander
2.09 Baton Rouge

* 100,000 homes without power in South Louisiana

* Officials estimate that only 10,000 people decided to tough it out in the New Orleans area. Near total evacuation.

* Press reports say that the death total so far from Gustav in the USA is 7.
