Don’t Forget About Hanna

Tropical Storm Hanna is probably feeling a little left out with all of the attention that her stage partner Gustav is getting. But she will be something to be reckoned with before it is all over. And look for more named storms in the next week.

Hanna shoudl stay a tropical storm for the foreseeable future.

Hanna should move southwestward…very strange for an Atlantic tropical cyclone…and threaten the Bahamas…tropical storm watches have been issued for the southeastern Bahamas. After that, it could move into the Gulf or turn northward along the East Coast of Florida. The overnight run of the GFS carries it to near Jacksonville by Friday morning. Could being some nice rains to Georgia.

Also…another tropical depression is getting ready to form in the far eastern Atlantic just west of the Cape Verde Islands…it will likely become Tropical Storm Ike. Initial indications are that it will meander westward and pass north of the islands later this week but turn north over the Atlantic. Don’t be surprised to see Tropical Storm Josephine later this week in the eastern Atlantic also.
