Thanks to meteorologist Josh Johnson of WXIA-TV in Atlanta for these images taken right after last night’s tornado in downtown Atlanta. We will post more images later today…

Josh writes:

“Just a note to give you all a little info on the tornado (not yet confirmed, but it will be) that struck downtown Atlanta last night. This is the only tornado in history to strike downtown Atlanta.

One of our meteorologists, Steve Adamson, believes this will be an EF2 or greater tornado. Looking at the early video, I agree.

I believe it’s miraculous that we’ve not heard of significant loss of life – a tornado that magnitude hitting that area during a Hawks game, SEC tourney, and huge dental convention, and so far, I’ve not heard of any fatalities. Hope that keeps up.

An angle I’ve brought up a couple of times – what if Mykal Riley for Alabama misses that miracle three-point shot at the end of regulation??? Then, there would have been no overtime; instead, thousands of people would have been walking to their car and very vulnerable to the tornado.”
