Tornado Death Toll

| April 16, 2011 @ 8:17 am | 12 Replies

Yesterday was one of the most significant severe weather outbreaks in some time for the Southeast US. According to the reports I’ve been able to put together, the death toll from tornadoes in Alabama stands at 7.

Washington County – 3 deaths possibly in mobile homes
Autauga County – 3 deaths apparently in mobile homes
Marengo County – 1 death believed to be in a house

Outside of Alabama, nine other deaths occurred in tornadoes and high wind in Oklahoma (2 deaths) and Arkansas (7 deaths) on Thursday. These events were part of the same storm system which plowed through Mississippi and Alabama yesterday.

Here is the preliminary storm report mapping from the SPC.
