Midday Nowcast: Clearing Sky Today with Colder Air on the Way; Drought Update
A cooler, drier air mass has returned to Alabama today. We have clouds at the writing of this forecast, but we will see a clearing sky this afternoon.
COOLER: Cooler, drier air is rolling into Alabama this morning. Morning clouds will give way to afternoon sunshine; highs will be in the 50s over the northern half of the state, with low to mid 60s for South Alabama.
RADAR CHECK: Areas of light rain continue across the northern half of Alabama as a cold front moves into the state…we also note a few spotty showers over the southeast counties. Temperatures range from the 50s over the northern counties to the mid to upper 70s down south.
ONE MORE MILD DAY: We are starting the day with temperatures around 60 degrees early this morning; a dense fog advisory remains in effect for a decent part of the state. Temperatures reach the low 70s this afternoon in most places.
RADAR CHECK: We have some light rain over North Alabama this afternoon in scattered spots, but the southern half of the state is enjoying a mostly sunny, warm December day. Temperatures range from the mid 60s over the northern counties to the upper 70s over South Alabama.
RADAR CHECK: A batch of showers is moving through East Alabama early this morning, it will be out of the state shortly after sunshine. Much of the day ahead will be dry with just a few isolated showers; temperatures rise into the low 70s in most locations this afternoon with some sun peeking through the clouds.
