Winter Storm Watch Issued For Friday; Cold/Dry Today
WINTER STORM WATCH: A winter storm watch has been issued for Friday for about the northern third of Alabama… for places as far south as Millport, Birmingham, Sylacauga, and Roanoke.
WINTER STORM WATCH: A winter storm watch has been issued for Friday for about the northern third of Alabama… for places as far south as Millport, Birmingham, Sylacauga, and Roanoke.
COLD AIR IN PLACE: For most of Alabama, the sky is sunny this afternoon… but the exception is the northwest part of the state where clouds are hanging tough at mid-afternoon. Temperatures under the cloud cover are hovering around freezing… elsewhere we have upper 30s and low 40s.
COLD: Temperatures will remain well below average through the rest of the week across the Deep South, and Alabama will be dry through Thursday. Highs will range from 35 to 45 degrees across the state, with lows well below freezing. The northern third of the state will dip into the teens early Thursday morning.
COLD: Snow flurries and showers have ended across Alabama this afternoon, but clouds linger over most of the state. It is a cold, windy afternoon with temperatures ranging from the upper 20s over the northern counties to around 40 degrees near Dothan.
COLD AIR MOVING IN: Temperatures will fall into the 30s across the northern half of Alabama this morning, and will stay there all day with an icy north wind. A few snow flurries are possible in the cold air, but there will be no impact.
