Midday Nowcast: Sunny with Soothing 60s Today; Frosty Temperatures Tonight
Sunshine in fully supply today, and that will continue the rest of the week as we are forecasting sunny, very pleasant days, and clear, cold nights.
COOL BREEZE: Cooler air continues to roll into Alabama and the Deep South this afternoon. Temperatures are in the 60s and 70s over the northern half of the state, with 80s to the south. Tonight will be clear and cool with a low in the 40s and 50s.
DRY FRONT: A dry cold front will bring noticeably cooler air into Alabama and the Deep South today. Highs will be in the 70s for most of the state with a cool north breeze. Our coldest mornings this week will come early Wednesday and Thursday when much of North Alabama will dip into the 30s for the first time this season.
A low pressure is tracking east along the Northern Gulf Coast and will keep us cloudy today with periods of rain today and tonight.

RADAR CHECK: Strong thunderstorms are scattered across the southern quarter of Alabama this afternoon; some are producing gusty winds and small hail. They will end early tonight as dry air pushes in from the north… otherwise tonight will be mostly fair and a bit cooler
RADAR CHECK: We have a few widely scattered showers/thunderstorms across Alabama early this morning. As drier air pushes into the northern half of the state, the best of showers and storms by afternoon will shift into the southern counties; a few thunderstorms could be strong there with gusty winds and some hail.
DRY AFTERNOON: The sky is partly to mostly sunny across Alabama this afternoon with temperatures in the 75-82 degree range. Tonight will be clear and cool with lows generally in the 50s, but some of the colder spots could reach the upper 40s.
COOL CHANGE: Heavier thunderstorms have moved out of the southeast corner of Alabama early this morning… most of the state will be dry today but much cooler with highs in the 60s.
QUIET PATTERN: An upper low in the base of a long wave trough is rotating through North Alabama early this morning; there could be a sprinkle or two, but otherwise today will be a dry day with morning clouds giving way to afternoon sunshine. The high will be in the 50s for most of the state… some in South Alabama could see low 60s.
