DRY THIS WEEK: Today will be a mostly sunny, breezy, and cool day across Alabama with a high in the 50s. North winds will average 10-20 mph this afternoon as a surge of colder air rolls in. A freeze is likely over the northern 2/3 of the state tomorrow morning with lows in the 24-32 degree range.
RADAR CHECK: The line of strong to severe thunderstorms is pushing through the southeast corner of Alabama just before sunrise this morning, and across the Florida Panhandle. To the north, rain is over the eastern quarter of Alabama, moving quickly into Georgia. Clouds will linger across the state today, and winds could gust to 30 mph in spots through the afternoon… a wind advisory remains in effect for most of the state.
MILD, BREEZY TODAY: The sky will be mostly cloudy across Alabama through tonight with a south wind averaging 10-20 mph. A few showers are possible by afternoon, but a decent part of the day should be dry. But, to the west, a very active severe weather day is likely for parts of Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana.
BREEZY, WARMER: The sky becomes mostly cloudy across Alabama today, and a southeast wind of 10-20 mph will make it fairly blustery. We expect a high in the 50-55 degree range this afternoon, not far from average values for January 22 (the average high for Birmingham today is 54.
