CLOUDY/COOL/DAMP SEPTEMBER DAY: Clouds linger over the northern half of Alabama this afternoon with areas of light rain and drizzle; temperatures are only in the low to mid 60s, a good twenty degrees below average for mid-September in Alabama. We do note South Alabama is cloud free with temperatures in the low 80s.

Clouds will linger across the northern half of Alabama much of the day today with some patchy light rain, but nothing too heavy or widespread. And, the southern counties will see a pretty decent amount of sun with only isolated showers. Still a bit breezy… winds today will veer back around to the south by afternoon, averaging 10-18 mph.

EYES STILL ON HARVEY: Deeper moisture from Tropical Storm Harvey will move into Alabama over the next 24 hours. Still today rain across our state should be mostly light and scattered, although heavier rain is likely over Mobile and Baldwin Counties, where a flash flood watch is in effect. With a cloudy sky, we won’t get past the low 80s this afternoon. Very comfortable for late August.

WET PATTERN SETTING UP: Lots of clouds across Alabama today, but as expected not much in the way of rain. Just a few scattered sprinkles, and temperatures are only in the upper 70s and low 80s. Sure doesn’t feel like August.

Not much change tomorrow; mostly cloudy with just some scattered light rain. The high will be at or just over 80 degrees for most communities.
