SUNNY, COOL NOVEMBER DAY: Temperatures are in the 40s over the northern half of the state this afternoon despite a sunny sky… low to mid 50s are observed over the southern counties. Tonight will be clear and cold with a freeze for much of North/Central Alabama; lows there will be in the 25-32 degree range for most communities.
BRIGHTER, BUT COLD DAY: Sunshine returns in full force to Alabama today, but the day will be cold and breezy with highs in the 40s over the northern third of the state, with 50s to the south. A freeze is likely across all of North and Central Alabama tonight with lows in the 25-32 degree range early tomorrow. Wednesday morning will be a few degrees colder, with potential for freezing temperatures deep into South Alabama.
SUNNY, COLD NOVEMBER DAY: Temperatures are in the 48-53 degree range across the northern half of Alabama this afternoon, with mid to upper 50s over the southern counties under a cloudless sky. We note the average high for Birmingham on November 1 is 70. A freeze warning is in effect tonight for all of Alabama, with the exception of areas south of I-10 in Baldwin and Mobile counties.
The new month has started with the coldest air so far this season across Alabama and the Deep South with widespread freezing temperatures this morning across the northern half of the state.
FREEZE WARNING: A freeze warning is in effect tonight for roughly the northern half of the state. With a clear sky and diminishing wind, we project a low in the 26-32 degree range for most communities in the warning area. Upper 30s are likely as far south as I-10.
COLD BREEZE: Clouds linger across Alabama early this morning, and we note a few sprinkles on radar over the southern half of the state. We expect a clearing sky today with highs in the 50s over the northern counties, with low to mid 60s to the south. A freeze warning is in effect for late tonight and early tomorrow over the northern half of the state
TEMPS KEEP DROPPING: As advertised, temperatures continue to fall across the northern half of Alabama this afternoon in the wake of a sharp cold front, which is bringing the coldest air so far this season to the Deep South. Areas northwest of Birmingham are in the 40s at 3p CT, but south of the front temperatures are mostly in the 70s and low 80s.
SUNNY, COOL AFTERNOON: Temperatures are mostly in the 47-55 degree range across Alabama with a good supply of sunshine through high, thin cirrus clouds. The average high for Birmingham on March 20 is 68. And, despite the fact that spring arrives this afternoon (the equinox comes at 4:24p CDT), another freeze is likely for much of the state tonight.
Today will be sunny with a high in the 55-60 degree range, followed by another clear, cold night. Lows tomorrow morning will be in the 27-37 degree range for most communities; colder spots will see yet another freeze.
SUNNY AFTERNOON: Temperatures are in the 50s across most of Alabama this afternoon, with a few spots in the low 60s. We have a cloudless sky, and tonight will be clear and cold again with lows in the 30s and 40s. A freeze warning is in effect tonight for Northeast Alabama, where lows will be in the 28-32 degree range. Frost is a good possibility for the rest of North and Central Alabama early tomorrow.
BLUE SKY: Temperatures are 10-20 degrees below average across Alabama despite sunshine in full supply. Birmingham reports 49 degrees at 2:00p CT… the average high for today (March 14) is 67. Another freeze is ahead tonight; freeze warnings have been issued down into South Alabama. With a clear sky and light wind, we project lows mostly in the 25-35 degree range.
Today will be sunny and cool with a high in the 50s for North Alabama, with 60s to the south. Then, another freeze is likely for the northern 2/3 of the state late tonight and early tomorrow. A freeze warning is in effect as far south as Butler, Grove Hill, Camden, Greenville, Troy, and Eufaula. Temperatures could be a little colder than what we are experiencing this morning with a calm wind expected.
SUNNY, BREEZY, COOL DAY: Despite a good supply of sunshine, temperatures well below average across Alabama this afternoon, mostly in the 50s and 60s. Birmingham reports 55 degrees at 2:00 p.m… the average high for March 13 is 66. A freeze warning is in effect tonight for all of North and Central Alabama, where lows will dip into the 25-35 degree range early tomorrow morning.
