With a good supply of sunshine, we project high in the 50s over the northern 2/3 of the state today, with low 60s to the south. Clouds will increase tonight ahead of a disturbance in the northern Gulf, and a few sprinkles/patches of light rain are possible across the central and southern counties. Most places won’t see a drop with very limited moisture.
Today will be a sunny, cool day with a high in the 50s over North Alabama, with 60s to the south. A freeze warning has been issued for tonight for all of Alabama, with the exception of communities south of I-10 in Mobile and Baldwin counties. The wind is expected to go calm statewide, with a clear sky. Lows early tomorrow will be in the 25-35 degree range.
COOL OCTOBER DAY: Temperatures are in the 50s and 60s across Alabama this afternoon… the sky is sunny over the western and southern counties, but clouds linger in many areas north and east of Birmingham. Tonight will be fair and cool with a low in the 40s, but a few of the colder spots over North Alabama could see upper 30s.
COOL, BREEZY WEATHER CONTINUES: With a partly sunny sky, we project a high in the low to mid 60s for much of Alabama today… some places across the Tennessee Valley won’t get out of the 50s. A northwest wind of 10-20 mph will make it feel cooler. We note the average high for Birmingham on October 16 is 76, so temperatures today are well below average.
COOL LATE MARCH DAY: Temperatures are in the 60s across Alabama this afternoon with a partly sunny sky. Tonight will be mostly fair with a low in the 40s; colder spots across North/Central Alabama could dip into the mid to upper 30s with a touch of scattered light frost.
SUNNY, COOL WINTER DAY: With a good supply of sunshine, temperatures are in the 50s across Alabama this afternoon. Tonight will be clear and cold with sub-freezing temperatures for most of the state. Colder spots will dip well down into the 20s.
COOL, DRY DAY AHEAD: The system that brought rain to Alabama over the weekend has lifted out, and lingering clouds will give way to a sunny sky across Alabama today with highs in the 50s, right at seasonal averages for January. Tonight will be fair and cold with lows below freezing over the northern 2/3 of the state.
PLEASANT WINTER DAY: With a good supply of sunshine, temperatures are in the 50s and 60s across Alabama this afternoon. Tonight will be mostly fair with a low in the 30s.
SUNNY FRIDAY: A dry airmass covers Alabama this morning… look for a mostly sunny sky today with a high in the 50s over North Alabama, with 60s over the southern counties. Tonight will be fair and cold with a low between 30 and 38 degrees.
COOL DAYS; COLD NIGHTS: With a mix of sun and clouds today, we project a high in the 51-55 degree range this afternoon, about ten degrees below average for mid-November in Alabama. Tonight will be clear and cold with temperatures dropping into the upper 20s early tomorrow morning.
RAIN RETURNS: A weather disturbance will push rain into the state tonight and tomorrow. Most of the rain will come from about midnight tonight through noon tomorrow, but some light rain could linger into East Alabama tomorrow afternoon. Any thunderstorms will be confined to the Gulf Coast… for most of the state it will be a cold rain with no thunder; amounts of 1/2 to 1 inch are likely. Temperatures will hover in the 45-50 degree range tomorrow as the rain falls.
CLEARING: As advertised, the sky is clearing nicely across Alabama this afternoon as dry air and subsidence (sinking air) take over. Temperatures are well below average for mid-April… some spots north of Birmingham haven’t gotten out of the 50s. Tonight will be clear and cool with a low between 37 and 45 degrees for most places.
RADAR CHECK: A few showers are over the northern third of Alabama this afternoon under a deep upper trough rotating through the state. Some sleet and graupel have mixed with the rain in spots across the Tennessee Valley due to the very cold air aloft. Otherwise, the sky is mostly cloudy over North Alabama, with a partly to mostly sunny sky for the southern counties of the state.
BLUSTERY: West winds will increase later today across Alabama, averaging 15-25 mph with higher gusts. A disturbance will bring some clouds into the state, along with a few spotty showers this afternoon mainly along and north of I-20. Temperatures won’t get out of the 50s over North Alabama, and some spots across the Tennessee Valley might even hold in the 40s all day.
