BACK INTO THE DEEP FREEZE: It is a mostly sunny, chilly afternoon across Alabama with temperatures in the 30s over the northern countries, with 40s to the south. A hard freeze is likely tonight; expect 10-15 degrees over North Alabama… 20s are likely all the way down to the Gulf Coast.
BACK INTO THE DEEP FREEZE: While most of Alabama is above freezing early this morning, a new surge of Arctic air will arrive today, with temperatures holding steady or slowly falling. A brisk north wind will make it feel colder, despite a clearing sky.
SUNNY BUT COLD: Temperatures are finally above freezing from Birmingham and I-20 south this afternoon, but we still have upper 20s over the northern third of the state. Tonight will feature a mostly clear sky with a low in the 15-25 degree range for most places.
With sunshine in full supply, most of Alabama will climb above freezing this afternoon, but parts of the Tennessee Valley of North Alabama could hold at or below 32 all day. Tonight will be mostly clear with a low in the 15-25 degree range.
FRIGID AIR: Températures are below freezing this afternoon over the northern 2/3 of Alabama despite a mostly sunny sky; some communities across the Tennessee Valley are barely out of the teens. A hard freeze is ahead tonight with lows on the 5-15 degree range for most of Alabama; upper teens are possible down to the Gulf Coast.
RADAR CHECK: Areas of rain, freezing rain, and sleet continue over parts of East and South Alabama early this morning; this precipitation will be out of the state by mid-morning, and the sky will clear today.
RADAR CHECK: Widespread snow continues along and north of the Tennessee River this afternoon, with a wintry mix of sleet and freezing rain just to the south.
COLD/SNOW/ICE: A messy winter weather setup continues for much of Alabama today. A winter storm warning remains in effect for Marion, Winston, Franklin, Colbert, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Limestone, Cullman, Morgan, Madison, Marshall, Jackson, and DeKalb counties in North Alabama. A winter weather advisory is now in effect west of a line from Mobile to Selma to Clanton to Sylacauga to Ranburne.
RADAR CHECK: Light rain continues over parts of East and Southeast Alabama this afternoon… the rest of the state is under a mostly cloudy sky with temperatures in the 40s. We note some clearing around Mobile, where they have reached the low 50s. Lingering rain will end early tonight, followed by a clearing sky.
RADAR CHECK: Light rain is falling across South Alabama early this morning, where temperatures are in the 38-45 degree range. North Alabama is dry but colder with temperatures mostly in the mid to upper 20s at daybreak.
SEVERE CLEAR: Another cloudless afternoon for Alabama with temperatures in the 40s over the northern half of the state… 50s to the south. Tonight will be clear and cold with a freeze likely for the northern half of the state.
COLD START: Temperatures are in the 25-32 degree range over the northern half of Alabama early this morning with a clear sky. We are seeing 30s deep into South Alabama with a clear sky and light north wind of 5 mph or less. Today will be another sunny day with a high in the 40s over the northern third of the state, with low to mid 50s elsewhere.
SEVERE CLEAR: With a sunny sky temperatures in the 50s across Alabama this afternoon. Tonight will be clear and cold with a freeze for the northern half of the state, where lows will be in the 26-32 degree range.

Tonight will be clear and cold; a freeze is likely all the way down to I-10. Most places will see lows in the mid to upper 20s. For some tonight will be the coldest night so far this season.
