Some strong storms possible this afternoon across Alabama. All eyes are on the tropics as our next system is beginning to develop and will cause issues for Florida this weekend.
Recent data from an Air Force Reserve reconnaissance aircraft and visible satellite imagery indicate a well-defined center of circulation and is producing winds to near 35 mph, but the associated showers and thunderstorms are not quite organized enough for this system to be considered a tropical cyclone.
Little change in the forecast the next few days; the days are featuring a mix of sun and clouds and rain chances are less than 10% and a stray pop-up shower or two cannot be ruled out as a dry easterly flow is in place across the state.

EYES ON THE GULF: A developing tropical system promises to bring a good soaking to much of Alabama over the next 48 hours. But, early this morning there is no rain on radar, and temperatures are mostly in the 60s. The northern half of the state will stay dry today with a partly sunny sky along with a high in the low 90s. To the south, rain moves into Southwest Alabama by early afternoon, and will slowly spread northward tonight.
