RADAR CHECK: Large areas of light rain continue to move across the southern 2/3 of Alabama this afternoon. Rain amounts have been light so far, and they should remain light tonight as a layer of dry air in the higher levels of the atmosphere is limiting rain rates
RADAR CHECK: Rain is relatively widespread this morning across Alabama south of I-20, and west of I-65. Rain will continue to expand this morning, but the most widespread coverage and heavier totals will be over the southern half of the state thanks to a weak low moving through the northern Gulf of Mexico.
RADAR CHECK: Areas of light rain continue over the southern half of Alabama this afternoon near a stalled surface front/trough near the Gulf Coast. Most of the state has a cloudy sky, but the sun is out over the Tennessee Valley with temperatures in the 80s.
RADAR CHECK: We have large areas of mostly light rain across parts of Alabama early this morning with a mostly cloudy sky. We expect periods of rain through tomorrow night as a weak surface low moves along the Gulf Coast. The most widespread and beneficial rain will be over the southern half of the state, where amounts of one to two inches are likely.
RADAR CHECK: Large areas of rain along with a few strong thunderstorms continue across Alabama this afternoon. Flooding is possible with the heavier storms thanks to very high precipitable water values. Temperatures are only in the 70s and 80s across the state thanks to clouds and rain. Showers will remain possible through the night.
RADAR CHECK: A large mass of rain covers much of Alabama early this morning; heavier thunderstorms are pushing into the southwest corner of the state. Much of the rain for North/Central Alabama will come this morning; most of the afternoon and nighttime hours will be dry.
RADAR CHECK: A large mass of rain covers Alabama this afternoon, a few strong to severe storms are moving through the southeast corner of state and the Florida Panhandle. The risk of severe storms will end soon for far Southeast Alabama, and rain tapers off this evening elsewhere.
RADAR CHECK: Rain is fairly widespread over Alabama this afternoon with temperatures ranging from the 50s over the northern third of the state to the 70s across the southern counties. Periods of rain remain possible tonight along with some thunder.
RADAR CHECK: A large mass of rain covers the northern half of Alabama early this morning, expect occasional rain and a few thunderstorms through tonight. The most widespread rain will continue over the northern and central counties of the state, but showers are possible across South Alabama as well.
RADAR CHECK: Rain and thunderstorms continue over roughly the western half of Alabama this afternoon; the sky has been brighter over the eastern half of the state where there was some decent viewing opportunities for today’s solar eclipse.
RADAR CHECK: We have a large mass of rain over northern and western part of Alabama this morning gradually moving eastward. There are a few embedded thunderstorms, but as we expected there were no severe storms overnight. Gradient winds (non-thunderstorm) remain high east of the rain, but those winds will diminish later this morning.
The rain today will come in waves, with some breaks in the rain for a couple of hours, then a couple of hours of rain. We are seeing a few peeks of sunshine today as well, but overall clouds will win the day.
RADAR CHECK: Light rain continues to develop across Alabama early this morning, and we will forecast occasional rain through tonight as an upper trough approaches. The day will be cloudy and cool with highs in the mid 60s for most communities; rain amounts will be around 1/2 inch through late tonight.
RADAR CHECK: Rain and strong thunderstorms continue to push through South Alabama this afternoon; heavier storms there are capable of producing hail and strong winds. A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for the southern third of the state until 7p CT.
