SPRING PREVIEW: Temperatures have exceeded 70 degrees across much of Alabama this afternoon with a partly to mostly sunny sky. Clouds will thicken tonight, and showers will move into the state ahead of a surface front. Gradient winds will continue to increase over the next few hours, averaging 10-20 mph with higher gusts. A wind advisory is in effect through tonight for the Tennessee Valley of North Alabama.
SPRING-LIKE DAY AHEAD: With a mix of sun and clouds, we project a high close to 70 degrees this afternoon for a nice taste of spring. Birmingham’s average high for February 14 is 59. Clouds will increase tonight, and south winds will increase to 10-20 mph, with higher gusts overnight. A wind advisory is in effect for the Tennessee Valley of North Alabama.
RADAR CHECK: A few showers are across Southeast Alabama this afternoon, but the sky has cleared over the northwest counties of the state. Temperatures are mostly in the 60s, but a few spots in South Alabama are in the low 70s.
ANOTHER SPRING-LIKE TODAY AHEAD: Temperatures reach the 70s this afternoon across Alabama for another nice preview of spring. The average high for Birmingham on February 8 is 58. The sky will be mostly cloudy, and we will see a few spotty, widely scattered showers during the day. Rain becomes widespread late tonight after midnight
JUST LIKE SPRING: Temperatures are in the 60s and 70s across Alabama this afternoon with a mix of sun and clouds. A few showers are over South Mississippi, but our state is dry. Tonight will be mostly fair with a low in the 50s.
ANOTHER SPRING-LIKE AFTERNOON AHEAD: Temperatures are all over the board this morning due to variations in cloud cover and wind. We are seeing places in the 30s, 40s, and 50s across Alabama just before sunrise, but everyone will enjoy a mild afternoon with many places reaching the 70 degree mark.
THIS AFTERNOON: The sky is mostly sunny across South Alabama this afternoon, where temperatures are now in the mid 70s. Clouds are keeping temperatures mostly in the 60s over the northern half of the state. We note a few isolated showers near the Gulf Coast, but the weather is dry elsewhere. The sky will be mostly cloudy tonight with a low in the 55-62 degree range.
MILD DAY AHEAD: We project a high in the 67-72 degree range across Alabama today with a mix of sun and clouds; the average high for Birmingham on January 11 is 54. Most of the state will be dry, but a few widely scattered showers could show up along the Gulf Coast this afternoon.
RADAR CHECK: Rain continues this morning across parts of East Alabama near the Georgia line… we also see some scattered light rain over the northwest counties. The rain should be over by midday today, and we project dry weather this afternoon and tonight with some clearing possible. The high today will be in the mid 60s over North Alabama, with low 70s for the southern third of the state.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING! Temperatures will rise into the 67-72 degree range across Alabama today with clouds increasing. Most communities will be dry during the day, but rain moves into the state tonight. The main window for rain will come from about 9:00 tonight through 12:00 noon tomorrow; amounts of around one inch are likely. Some thunder is possible, but no severe storms are expected.
PLEASANT AFTERNOON: Temperatures are in the 66-72 degree range over the northern half of Alabama this afternoon… some spots have reached the mid 70s across South Alabama as the warming trend continues. The sky is partly to mostly sunny, and we will stay dry tonight with a low in the 40s.
