A winter storm warning is in effect today and tonight as an incoming winter storm is moving into Alabama producing accumulating snow. This event is going to be mainly for areas south of Interstate 20.
Clouds have returned to the Alabama sky and we are seeing some areas of light rain across the state. Temperatures today are ranging from the upper 40s to upper 50s this afternoon.
More clouds than sunshine and above average temperatures highlight the forecast through midweek across Alabama with afternoon highs in the upper 60s and lower 70s.
The SPC has increased the risk of severe weather for portions of Alabama to a “slight risk” (level 2/5) of severe thunderstorms this afternoon for Central and South Alabama.
Much needed rain is in the forecast for Alabama to start this week. It has been wet this morning and we continue to see areas of rain across Alabama at the midday hours.
It is a dry and nice day of weather across Alabama as we are seeing a mix of sun and clouds and afternoon highs are in the upper 60s to low 70s. Tonight, a strong cold front will bring rain and storms back to Alabama and a few strong storms are possible after midnight.
A widespread, soaking rain moved into Alabama overnight and has continued through the morning hours. The rain will slowly wind down from west to east the rest of today and into tonight.
Clouds have returned to Alabama today and those clouds are bringing some much needed rain. Scattered rain showers will become more widespread this evening and overnight.

Today through Friday, scattered showers and storms are expected each day, rain distribution will not be very even due to the scattered nature of the activity.
Moisture levels are on the rise and an approaching front is allowing for some light scattered showers across Alabama. Any rain out there is light and spotty and many spots will remain dry.
The front continues to bring clouds and some scattered showers to Alabama today, but the rain is light, and should generally dissipate later this evening. Highs today are in the 70s and low 80s.
Most of Alabama is dealing with more clouds than sun today, and underneath those clouds, there are a few very light showers showing up on the radar, especially over East Alabama.
