The SPC is creating a tornado watch that will be issued by 2 p.m. or so for much of southern Louisiana, southwestern Alabama and the western Florida Panhandle.

There are indications that it will be a Particularly Dangerous Situation tornado watch for the potential for significant tornadoes.

Severe thunderstorms are now spreading across Southeast Louisiana into southern Mississippi. Those storms will continue to spread northeast and will eventually move into Southwest and West Central Alabama.

According to the NWS Birmingham, none of their Central Alabama counties will be in the tornado watch.
