Tornado Watch for Central, Southwest Alabama

As expected, the NWS has issued a tornado watch for West Central and Southwest Alabama until 8 p.m.

Storms across Central Alabama from Choctaw and Marengo Counties across Perry and into Bibb and Autauga Counties are poised to intensify as they push northeast.

Wind shear values are high and there is a moderate potential for a few isolated tornadoes in the watch area.

The Alabama Counties included are:

In the NWS Birmingham Area of responsibility:

Autauga, Bibb, Chilton, Dallas, Elmore, Greene, Hale, Lowndes, Marengo, Montgomery, Perry and Sumter.

In the NWS Mobile Area of responsibility:

Choctaw, Clarke, Monroe, Washington, Wilcox in Alabama and and George, Greene, Perry, Stone, Wayne in Mississippi.
