It is a very nice Sunday across Central Alabama with mild temperatures in the middle 60s and variable skies. Cloud cover ranges from partly cloudy in places like Cullman to partly sunny skies at Anniston to mostly cloudy at Birmingham.

The clouds are associated with some low level moisture up around 5-8,000 feet that is being lifted by an approaching trough. That trough is approaching Memphis this afternoon and will swing by to our north overnight. There is a cold front approaching Little Rock this afternoon, but it won’t have much impact on Alabama’s weather, except to scour out the atmosphere and allow for cooler temperatures tomorrow night.

Dry weather should prevail through Thursday, with a slight chance of showers showing up Thursday night and Friday. The best chance of rain though now looks like it might hold off until late Sunday night. These severe weather threat looks minimal, but will have to be monitored with a low instability, high wind shear situation unfolding.
