Improving Weather Tomorrow

| October 27, 2015 @ 3:17 pm

COOL, DAMP FALL DAY: This has been a day with low hanging clouds, light rain and drizzle, and cool temperatures. A number of North Alabama communities have failed to get out of the 50s this afternoon…

Temperatures

The weather won’t change much tonight… cloudy, cool, some light rain or drizzle at times. All thanks to the “ghost of Patricia”, which is near Jackson, MS this afternoon.

TOMORROW/THURSDAY: Any lingering showers will end early tomorrow, and we could begin to see some sunshine tomorrow afternoon. Temperatures will be warmer, with a high in the mid to upper 70s.

A cold front will pass through the state Thursday morning, with the potential to bring a few showers to our state. Best chance of showers will come from 3:00 until 8:00 a.m. Thursday, and rain amounts should be under 1/4 inch. Then, the rest of the day will be party sunny with a high Thursday afternoon in the mid 70s.

FRIDAY: This will be a delightful fall day with ample sunshine and very pleasant temperatures. We start the day in the 40s, and the afternoon high will be close to 70. The fall colors will look very impressive with the cobalt blue sky. And, the weather will be clear and cool for high school football games Friday night.

WEEKEND WEATHER CHANGES: While the daytime hours Saturday should be dry, clouds will increase in advance of the next rain maker to the west. Rain will push into the state Saturday night; the trick or treaters need to do their thing as early as possible to avoid the rain. Then, rain and thunderstorms are likely late Saturday night into Sunday. We can’t rule out a few strong thunderstorms Sunday with a surface low over Arkansas and fairly strong wind fields. Instability will be rather limited, however. Highs for the weekend will be in the mid 70s.

NEXT WEEK: Lingering showers will end very early Monday morning; otherwise the weather looks dry and mild for much of the week with highs well into the 70s. See the Weather Xtreme video for maps, graphics, and more details.

FOOTBALL WEATHER: For Saturday’s Magic City Classic in Birmingham… the sky will be mostly cloudy when Alabama State and Alabama A&M kickoff at Legion Field (2:30p CT), temperatures will fall from the mid 70s at kickoff into the low 70s by the fourth quarter. For now it looks like there will be no risk of rain (the wet weather arrives after the game is over).

Auburn hosts Ole Miss Saturday at Jordan-Hare Stadium at 11:00; at this point the weather looks mostly cloudy, but the chance of rain holds off until late Saturday night, well after the game is finished. Temperatures will rise from the upper 60s at kickoff into the low to mid 70s by the fourth quarter.

Alabama takes the weekend off.

AT THE BEACH: A few isolated showers are possible on the coast late Thursday night and early Friday, otherwise dry weather for the coast tomorrow through Saturday with mostly sunny days and fair nights. Rain returns Sunday; See the complete Gulf Coast 7 Day Planner here. The Gulf Coast Beach Forecast is presented by Gulf Shores Plantation by Mandoki Hospitality Vacation Rentals. Escape to Gulf Shores Plantation where memories last a lifetime.
