Hazardous Road Conditions Expected Overnight

| February 16, 2015 @ 9:50 pm

Many school systems are delaying their start times for Tuesday morning, which is a very good idea given the rapid drops in temperature tonight quickly following on the heels of the heavy rains this evening.

The actions of the school systems should remind all Central Alabama businesses, organizations and individuals to take stock of the condition of roads across the area.

The NWS and Emergency Management Agencies have issued a Civil Emergency Management message for the following counties. Bibb, Blount, Calhoun, Cherokee, Clay, Cleburne, Etowah, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Jefferson, Lamar, Marion, Perry, Pickens, Randolph, Shelby, St. Clair, Sumter, Talladega, Tallapoosa, Tuscaloosa, Walker and Winston.

In these counties, icy road conditions are possible overnight.

Roads could remain icy through much of the morning hours, especially in sheltered locations.

It will be in effect until midnight.

Please pay attention to road conditions overnight and in the morning and exercise extreme caution if you are going to be driving.
