Early Monday Morning Update
The NWS Huntsville has issued a winter storm warning for Colbert and Lauderdale Counties (including Florence and Muscle Shoals), where higher ice accumulation is likely due to freezing rain. A winter weather advisory remains in effect for the rest of the Tennessee Valley…
TEMPERATURES: They have slowly been warming since midnight, but they are still below freezing generally from U.S. 278 north…
RADAR: Freezing rain has entered the northwest corner of Alabama early this morning….
The highest chance of bridge/road icing this morning will remain north of a line from Hamilton to Cullman to Gadsden, and the highest ice accumulation will be over the northwest corner of the state. No freezing rain is expected for Tuscaloosa and Birmingham, only a slight chance for Anniston.
Temperatures will warm through the day, and we might even hear some thunder this afternoon…
Rain ends late tonight; maybe a few snow flurries as it all tapers off, but for now nothing significant is expected. I will have a full discussion and a new Weather Xtreme video shortly…
