RADAR CHECK: As expected, not much on radar early this morning. Just a few patches of drizzle and snow flurries in scattered pockets across North Alabama, and that will fade from the radar screen soon. Clouds this morning will give way to a bright, sunny afternoon, but the day will be breezy and colder. We won’t get past the low to mid 40s this afternoon, and a north wind of 10-20 mph will make it feel even colder.

Tonight will be feature a pretty good freeze; most communities will see a low between 22 and 26 early tomorrow; colder valleys could reach the upper teens.

FRIDAY AND THE WEEKEND: With sunshine in full supply tomorrow, we will see a high in the mid 50s. The warm-up continues through the weekend… Saturday promises to be a delightful day, with ample sunshine and a high in the low 60s. Then, mid 60s are likely Sunday afternoon with a mix of sun and clouds. We might consider a slight risk of a shower Sunday afternoon over the northern third of the state with an approaching clipper/front, but with very little moisture we won’t mention it for now.

NEXT WEEK: The clipper would bring a shower or two to North Alabama Monday, but the last few runs of the GFS have trended drier, showing only isolated showers. Then, the weather looks cool and dry Tuesday through Thursday with highs mostly in the 50s and lows generally in the 30s. A cold front arrives late in the week with some potential for a few showers, followed by colder air for the following weekend. See the Weather Xtreme video for maps, graphics, and more details.
