Severe Thunderstorm Warning Blount/Etowah/St. Clair until 6:15 PM

The leading edge of a line of severe storms is pushing across northeastern Alabama. Winds in excess of 60 mph are likely with the gust front. These storms have caused damage to the northwest, as tree and power line damage has been reported.

These strong winds will be impacting U.S. 11, 231, and 278, as well as Interstate 59.

NORTH CENTRAL ST. CLAIR COUNTY IN ALABAMA…

* UNTIL 615 PM CDT

* AT 526 PM CDT…THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE INDICATED A LINE OF
SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAPABLE OF PRODUCING DAMAGING WINDS IN EXCESS
OF 60 MPH. THESE STORMS WERE LOCATED ALONG A LINE EXTENDING FROM 5
MILES NORTH OF ALBERTVILLE TO SUSAN MOORE TO GARDEN CITY…AND
MOVING SOUTHEAST AT 50 MPH.

* LOCATIONS IMPACTED INCLUDE…
CLEVELAND…ONEONTA…NECTAR…ROSA…FAIRVIEW…WALNUT GROVE…
ALTOONA AND SARDIS CITY.

THIS INCLUDES…
INTERSTATE 59 EXIT NUMBER 174…

WINDS OF 60 TO 70 MPH WILL BREAK LARGE TREE LIMBS AND CAUSE SOME
DAMAGE…ESPECIALLY TO SMALLER STRUCTURES.
