Flash Flood Watch Issued for All of North-Central Alabama
The watch is for all of the NWS Birmingham’s coverage area. The NWS in Huntsville has a flash flood watch issued for all their counties in the Tennessee Valley of the state. Surrounding NWS Offices have issued flash flood watches for adjacent states as well including the Peachtree City Office that covers all of Northern Georgia, including the Atlanta Metro. To the west, NWS in Jackson and Memphis have all of northern and central Mississippi under a flash flood watch.
This watch goes into effect at 4 PM Monday afternoon and is valid until 7 AM Wednesday morning.

* FLASH FLOOD WATCH FOR ALL OF CENTRAL ALABAMA.
* FROM MONDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH WEDNESDAY MORNING.
* WIDESPREAD HEAVY RAINFALL OF UP TO 5 INCHES IS EXPECTED IN THE
WATCH AREA…WITH LOCALIZED HIGHER AMOUNT POSSIBLE.
* THE ACCUMULATED RAINFALL EXPECTED WITH THIS SYSTEM WILL BE
ENOUGH TO AGGRAVATE SOME RIVERS AND STREAMS THAT ARE ALREADY
RUNNING ABOVE NORMAL…AND SOME RIVERS ARE FORECAST TO REACH
STAGES OF MINOR FLOODING. ROADWAYS IN LOW LYING AREAS WILL
LIKELY FLOOD…ESPECIALLY ROADS THAT ARE CLOSE TO CREEKS AND
STREAMS. PONDING OF WATER WILL BE LIKELY IN URBAN AREAS WHERE
POOR DRAINAGE EXISTS.

A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT CONDITIONS MAY DEVELOP THAT LEAD
TO FLASH FLOODING. FLASH FLOODING IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.
YOU SHOULD MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION
SHOULD FLASH FLOOD WARNINGS BE ISSUED.
