The Storm Prediction Center has issued a very rare High Risk for severe weather over portions of central and southern Arkansas for the rest of this afternoon and into the overnight hours. Very dangerous severe weather outbreak is imminent in this area. Large and violent tornadoes will be possible from Little Rock to Texarkana and areas around the ARKLATEX.

Along with the tornado threat, very large hail, damaging winds, and flooding are possible as well.

Portions of Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, Missouri, Arkansas, and Texas have been highlighted in a moderate risk for severe weather. Outside the moderate risk, a slight risk has been issued from southeastern Texas to the Midwest. This slight risk includes portions of northwestern Alabama and is valid until 7 AM tomorrow morning. Strong and severe storms, that will be weakening, will affect the portions of Alabama with a threat of severe weather early tomorrow morning.

Current convection over the state is non-severe, but is producing heavy rainfall, as well as frequent lighting and very loud thunder. There have been a few reports of small hail in some of the more intense convection moving across Alabama this afternoon.
