Active Weather Period Set to Start

| April 27, 2014 @ 8:41 am

An all new edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme video is available in the player on the right sidebar of the blog. You can subscribe to the Weather Xtreme video on iTunes by clicking here.

If you follow the Blog here, you know that we are setting up for an active period of weather starting with showers and isolated thunderstorms. James has prepared a full discussion of the severe weather and flash flooding threat over the next three days.

See the video for details on the situation we are facing over the next several days with all modes of severe weather possible including tornadoes, large hail, damaging thunderstorm wind, and flooding. Due to other responsibilities this will not be a full discussion, so see the video for the details.

The closed low just to the southeast of Denver will continue to spin in the Central US as is moves very slowly eastward. While it is doing that, small short wave disturbances will be rotating around the closed low helping to enhance thunderstorm activity in several bursts. That closed low does not move into the Great Lakes area until Thursday with an unseasonably chilly spell possible for next weekend.

And you can follow news and weather updates from ABC 33/40 on Twitter here. Stay in the know by following the whole gang – here’s the list…

I urge everyone to review safety plans and be prepared to take positive action for the protection of life. Have more than one way to get warnings. Enjoy this day, be safe, and Godspeed.
