Rain Returns To Alabama Tomorrow

RADAR CHECK: Pretty quiet across the great state of Alabama at daybreak; just a little light rain showing up on radar over Sumter, Marengo, Greene, Perry, and Choctaw counties of West Alabama. The sky is generally cloudy, and temperatures are mostly in the 30s.
Today will be mostly dry, with just a few sprinkles this morning. We could very well have a few breaks in the overcast this afternoon, and if the can can peek through we have a chance of reaching the upper 50s this afternoon.
MORE RAIN TOMORROW: The next wave in the southern branch of the jet stream will bring rain to most all of the state tomorrow; looks like the main window for rain comes from about 12:00 noon tomorrow through 3:00 a.m. Friday. Rain amounts of 1/2 inch are likely… a few spots could see up to 3/4″. It will be a cool day with temperatures holding mostly in the 40s as a surface low passes to the south over the northern Gulf of Mexico.
FRIDAY AND THE WEEKEND: Drier air returns to Alabama Friday. The day will begin with lingering clouds, but the sun should break through by afternoon. The high Friday afternoon will be in the 55 to 60 degree range for most communities. Then, Saturday promises to be a delightful day, with ample sunshine and a high not too far from 70 degrees.
A weak cold front will pass through in dry fashion Saturday night, and Sunday will be mostly sunny but a little cooler with a high in the low 60s.
NEXT WEEK: Monday will feature a sunny sky and an afternoon high near 70; the next wave in the southern branch will bring some risk of showers by Tuesday or Wednesday, but models continue to trend drier as the wave dampens out, and moisture levels remain low. And, no sign of any really cold air next week as afternoons look mild.
