Staying Safe Tonight

A crazy day has turned into a hectic night across Central Alabama. Numerous motorists continue to be stranded on local roadways and the problems are not getting any better. With such cold temperatures the roads are solid ice and are impassable.

If you are somewhere safe and warm, stay there. Do not attempt to travel tonight. There are numerous accidents reported and local authorities can not handle the load or are unable to reach many of the locations do to the terrible road conditions.

This terrible weather is not just confined to Central Alabama. Similar problems and dangerous conditions are ongoing for Montgomery, Mobile, and the City of Atlanta, where numerous interstates remain gridlocked late tonight.

Conditions will not improve overnight as terribly cold, sub-freezing temperatures will persist through the night. Overnight lows are expected in the single digits for much of Central Alabama, and highs tomorrow will have a hard time climbing above freezing.
